Ways to Make Your Bathroom Safer

The bathroom is one of the most dangerous places in your Atlanta home.  Slippery tile, water, and multiple hard surfaces combine to make hazardous conditions for people of any age, and the CDC has recorded hundreds of thousands of bathroom-related injuries for persons aged fifteen and older in past years.  Zillow cites more statistics; eighty percent of bathroom injuries are the result of falling, and fourteen percent of these injuries required hospitalization.

Luckily there are some ways you can reduce the hazards present in your bathroom.  Non-slip tub mats are a wise investment for using inside your bath or shower, and placing rugs or mats outside of your shower will help prevent slippery floors and give you a comfortable surface to place your feet after bathing.

Grab bars in your shower or bath are a great safety feature regardless of age.  They come in a variety of styles and finishes, so you have plenty of options that will enhance your bathroom design.  If you have older adults living in your home, adding grab bars by the toilet will also help to prevent injuries.

If you ever have  a problem with a leak or a clogged drain that is causing wet and slippery conditions in your bathroom, you should take care of that hazard immediately.  Feel free to give Rescue Rooter of Atlanta® a call at 770-308-4409.  (License #MP007416)
